Recent Programs
Ms. Cheryl Connelly was the program speaker on May 10, 2011. Ms. Connelly outlined her program: "Happenings at Habitat for Humanity" for the membership. The last time she spoke to the Club was when our meetings were held in Stephens City.
On April 19th Rotarian Roy Schwartz, MD presented his very informative program entitled: "The Dragon Awakes: Should We Tremble?" about China yesterday and today.
Mayor Marshall J. Brown is about to receive the "official" coffee cup from President Joe Myer. Mayor Brown gave a program entitled " You can't eat history" about economic development and historic preservation. Mayor Brown is the mayor of Middletown, Virginia.Sunday, May 8, 2011

WHAT IS INTERACT?
Interact is Rotary International’s service club for young people ages 12 to 18.
Interact clubs are sponsored by individual Rotary clubs, which provide support and guidance, but they are self-governing and self-supporting.
Club membership varies greatly. Clubs can be single gender or mixed, large or small.
They can draw from the student body of a single school or from two or more schools in the same community.
Each year, Interact clubs complete at least two community service projects, one of which furthers international understanding and goodwill. Through these efforts, Interactors develop a network of friendships with local and overseas clubs and learn the importance of

Rotarinans Helping Habitat
Hello Joe and Kitty,
Last year the Rotary Club of Frederick County provided funds to be used
in cooperation with Habitat for Humanity. BLI recently was able to use
these funds to install a front foundation planting with shrubs, perennials,
mulch, sod, and one tree for the Habitat home at 546 Freemont Street,
Winchester, VA. Attached are 2 pictures of the job site. We appreciate the
opportunity to donate and partner with the club, on such a project, and look
forward to working together in the future. The club sign is posted on the
site, and a press release will follow.

Program: Rotarian M. Roy Schwarz, MD will present his program about China entitled, "The Dragon Awakes: Should We Tremble?"
Dr. Schwarz was appointed the President of the China Medical Board (CMB) of New York, Inc. on July 1, 1997 and served until August 1, 2006. The China Medical Board is a private foundation established in 1914 by the Rockefeller Foundation to create a world class, western science based medical school in China called Peking Union Medical College (PUMC). While at the China Medical Board, Dr. Schwarz established an Institute for International Medical Education.
We will have a brief PR Committee meeting following the regular club meeting, 8:30am to review and prepare the press release for May 2011 programs and speakers.
