RYLA - Winner

Robin de Azagra is a senior at John Handley High School and will be attending the College of William and Mary this fall. She is a member of the Interact Club at JHHSserving as an Officer for the last three years and as Treasurer. Interact is Rotary International’s program for youth.
She recently volunteered to give a speech about drug and alcohol abuse prevention because of her strong feelings about the topic and her desire to reach out to her peers in an original way. Robin was given the opportunity to go to the Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) program competition at Virginia Tech along with five other Interact Officers and two Rotary Exchange Students. She placed first in the Rotary District that runs from Winchester, Virginia to Johnson City, Tennessee. She was asked to give her speech to the Old Dominion ASAP Board and CCJB that represents five counties in the Northern Shenandoah Valley Region. Her next stop is Raleigh, North Carolina to compete at another level of the RYLA leadership training.
Robin gave her speech on Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention to our club on January 29, 2013 to a standing ovation while her mother Erika, a member of our club looked on. Thank you Robin.  Good luck in Raleigh.
Club member Jean-Jacques Meneau congratulates Robin after the club meeting.
